Plz Help! I need STARTER help! This is urgent!
I'll keep it simple. I have a 2009 Mazda RX8 GT. The plastic piece that goes over the metal piece that you crank to start your car. MINE BROKE OFF! I was stranded at the gas station until my genius brain took the key out of my key fob and stuck it into the hole in the metal piece! Somehow I was able to crank my car and make it home but now I cannot recreate that scenario! I do not know if that was the right move, or if I just got somehow stupidly lucky. Either way I'm in desperate need of help because this is my only car until I can get that piece fixed! What do I do?!? Anything helps!

I think you’re talking about the keyless entry key cap.
on eBay search for this:
Keyless Ignition Start Switch **** Cap & Insert for Mazda MX-5 RX-8 CX-7 CX-9
Alao to calm yourself a bit. Read the manual about how that key works. Yes it is to be used for when the battery in the key fob does. Or when you need to get into the car when the main battery has died. Any Mazda dealership will have this cap as well. Till then you can continue using your key till your replacement cap and insert arrives.

There’s no rush - I’ve been using the key for my 2010 for over 2 years (daily driven). Used fobs are a waste of time and the new ones are about $450 each. Try a wrecking yard or dealership for the plastic cover. Also, check your pockets for small holes, I almost lost my key (heard it hit the concrete floor or would have walked away).
