For about two weeks now I have been contemplating buying a 2007 Rx8 with 74k miles on it. Engine was replaced around 18k with the warranty. The owner has kept up well with the maintenence and has kept it nice and clean, maintenance records as proof. Ive gotten pretty well informed over rx8s and their dos and donts but even then im still iffy. I dont want to buy the car for 10k and have the engine give out within a year or couple of months.
I suggested that the car get a compression test from Mazda and the owner agreed to it.
Other than that im not sure what else to look for to know if the car is in good shape. The start up sounds normal. The shifts are smooth. From what I drove I dont see any power loss but then again im still new.
So that being said what are general things to look for?
