Racing beat non resonated midpipe on S2 rx8
Hello everyone. Long time reader, relatively new to posting. Anyways down to business.
So a few weeks ago I bought the racing beat non resonated midpipe. Slapped it on and on I went. First thing I noticed was how ungodly loud this thing is. It sounds incredible really but holy crap it's loud (I also have a hks hi power exhaust) over the next few days I began to also notice a pretty huge lack of low end torque. It was pretty noticeable especially when starting from a red light. The car needs a good amount more gas to move from a starting position but pulls alot nicer on Highways when I'm over 5-6k rpm.
I've since put the cat back on this weekend and most definitely got back my peppy low end torque back. And was wondering if anyone else with a midpipe or perhaps anyone who has the particular midpipe I have had these issues. I'm pretty sure I'm losing back pressure with the less restricted midpipe but is there any way to get it back while staying catless?
Should I start looking into headers? Or maybe a resonated midpipe will help instead? Or perhaps a lighter flywheel to help me counteract the lack of back pressure?
Just looking for some advice or tips any help will be appreciated. For anyone wondering I have a 2010 R3. The only o the er mods are the hks exhaust and racing beat revi intake.
