Radio and AC not working. Would aftermarket kit fix it?

Iv'e been searching these forums and google and have followed the steps of cleaning the connections in the back of the radio and between the radio and faceplate. My radio and ac controls still aren't working. I'm wondering if the face plate could be causing the issue and if so would getting an aftermarket metra kit and radio fix it? I won this car at an auction about a week ago so I'm really not familiar with it at all. Any help is much appreciated!

It depends on what the problem is.

The Metra kit reuses the existing HVAC electronics.

You should probably attempt to properly diagnose the problem rather than throwing parts at it.

Thanks for the reply. The only thing that I've been able to do or know to do is take a volt meter to the connections in the back of the radio. Those pins are getting power. I guess my real questions should be where do I go from here? I'm not sure what the next step to diagnose the issue is and need a little guidance.

What about the display? Do your steering wheel radio controls work? Do the lights for the controls/radio turn on with the headlights?
