re using rotors

Apex of rotors are closed up, is it ok to open them back up using an old seal? Or will these points be weak and fail under heat? What's the best way to recondition them?

I never had them too small ... mine always wear out so that the apex seals have too much space in them ... did u clean them really well?

Post a photo ... maybe you can get help then...

Greetings
Thomas

Thanks, it helps as far as the spacing required. But what has happened I think it might be where they've made slight contact with the housings, closing them slightly. I didn't disassemble them but I.had an old apex seal that wouldn't fit in, I have new seals on order but I'm wondering if I need to get new rotors.

I've opened up the grooves using an old seal, which now fits in, I'm wondering whether the rotor is ok to use after doing this.

I vaguely recall from a rebuild video that you can open them up more and cannot close them to fit apex seals. I think the issue is doing it evenly. Check to see if the side seals now fit. If that's all good I don't see why not.
