I'm not finding consistent information so I'm posting a new thread to ask if anyone can definitively say where this washer goes. The back story is, I took off the drivers side rear brake caliper and caliper bracket to replace one of the rear rotors on my 2005 AT 8 and in the process two of the pictured washers fell off. One I found and one I did not find. Before I removed the rear caliper bracket from the other side to replace the rotor I noted where the washers were which was in between the bracket and the hub. This means they functioned as spacers, not washers.
I ordered the part from the dealership in my local area and his drawing showed the part as a washer underneath the screw. The package also labels the part as a washer. BUT, I found a drawing online that seemed to show this part as a spacer in between the caliper bracket and hub.
My question is, does anyone have any experience with this part and can say if it belongs between the bracket and the hub as a spacer, or underneath the screw head as a washer. I also took a trip the local junkyard to observe other makes and models of rear caliper brackets and did not see any spacers between the bracket and hub of any model of car. Thanks for any help,

Please find the attached photo of my rear calliper the spacer shim fits inside the calliper carrier and then bolts to the hub as you mentioned. I know this is 6 years too late but it may well help someone else who is wondering where they fit. You can see the spacers with their locating prongs inserted into the cast iron calliper to the lower part of the photo.
