Rebuilding My 13B Renesis.. Have a couple questions as far as apex seal sizes
I am buying an rx8 with the engine blown, I'm not quite sure what the issue is yet but I plan on resurfacing the rotor housings as well as the rotors themselves. I plan on taking them to Freelance Motorsports
Rotor Housing Resurfacing - Freelance Motorsports LLC
Race Rotor Clearance - Freelance Motorsports LLC
^^^^^This is what I'm talking about^^^^^
Is there any reason this couldn't work?
I feel like doing this will force me to get 3mm apex seals?
Also what seals can I re-use and what am I going to have to get new? I see all these kits that range from $600 to $2,000 and the cheaper ones have less parts which leads me to believe that some rebuilds may not need as many parts? Is there a recommended kit? Is there one that's somewhat decent for cheap? What parts should I not go cheap on?
Also I heard there is a mod where I can have a canister of fresh 2-stroke oil so the may be injected instead of the motor oil? Is this a smart idea? If so, what is it called and how do I attempt it?

There are a few companies doing the resurfacing now. I haven't seen any longer term information about the results..and so have no opinion
The rotor clearance doesn't make you change to 3mm seals. They are machining the sides of the rotors so there is more clearance on the tips where they can hit with high load and high RPM usage. There isn't really a reason to do this on a "normal" build
The adapter is called the Sohn Adapter...search the forum and you will find info on that. There is a company that sells a kit with the adapter and a mounting plate and reservoir for it.....searching will also find that
As far as what you have to replace for seals...that will depend on what kind of shape the motor is in. You may just need apex seals or you may need side and corner seals as well.
Personally I would at least replace the apex, corner and side seals and springs. The cutoff and oil control rings might be OK to reuse if you measure them to spec
