HI all!
Thought I'd remove the VFAD system today, and give the area a clean while I had everything off.
There's a box that goes around the front of the air intake, as well as a tray under it. I decided not to put these back on. I get that there's likely 0 benefits to removing them, but my thoughts is that it allows cold air to go more easily up to the intake? the only difference I can see with taking away the tray under the intake is that by having it there your directing all air flow from the grill to the radiator, rather than to the intake too. I live in the UK so temperatures have never been an issue for me, and so far ive had no noticeably higher temps. But just wondering if this could have other side effects I'm missing.
That does bring me on to another thing I noticed with the bumper off. My front grill is pretty much entirely blocked off apart from the lower corners. I've heard the top half is blocked off to stop the front of the engine being cooler than the rear and also for looks. But why is the bottom of mine also blocked off? I couldn't find anything online for it either. Is this specific to cooler climates?
Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this and if not having the tray and box could be doing any harm! Also if it's worth removing that lower block on the grill? Thanks
That lower plate in the bumper is a bit weird, but I suspect that and the tray are there to prevent direct water spray onto the intake. Air for the radiator comes in lower than that, through the lip opening. I don't think it does any harm with or without the things you've removed, just don't drive into any monsoons.

Thanks for the reply Loki, that makes sense! yeah without them I suppose it's more susceptible to water and rain spraying up. Im already very careful not to take it though any water so I'll just make sure to be careful with that and heavy downpours. Thank you
