Rotary rookie
What's up rotary world! I have always been interested in rotary engines since I was a kid. There was an old rotary sedan that dominated fan participation races at our local circle track! I was dumbfounded watching that little car tear up Mustangs, Camaros and vettes! Now, I am older and maybe a little wiser! I want an RX-8 now I am to a point to have a toy! I know I want a manual. Should I look for one series over the other? I have plans to add bolt ons to the engine and focus mostly on handling and braking at first. Down the road I will delve more into the high performance aspect of rotary engines but would like to get more familiar with the engine first. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

2 sets of 3 numbers for each rotor face.
Don't worry about any mods at first except possibly a cat delete if legal in your area, and ignition health. (Coils, wires, plugs)
Drive it, get used to it, learn about it.
In time after you've familiarized yourself with it, then start thinking about improvements.
A stock RX8 as is can be a challenge, dip your toe in the water first, as it were.
Walk before you run.

My thoughts exactly! I am hoping to find a relatively low mileage one, near stock. Thank you for the advice. I am leaning toward a series 2 R3 if I can find one. The interior is nice for a road hugger!

The S2s have engine improvements, but some of us prefer the looks of S1s.
The R3s have Recaro seats, some love them, I love my heated leather seats.
I just invested way more money than some think it's worth to get it on the road again after 3 years.
If you know, you know.
