BC Rough Idle, Occaisional Stall and more.

Hey guys, new to owning an RX8 but not new to having issues with vehicles lol, so my issue is when i start the car it takes a while to crank over so my initial worry was the battery, surely enough the terminal definitely needs to be replaced, my multimeter took a reading of four volts from the battery while off which doesent seem possible? So when the car does start, usually will, just takes a few seconds of trying, the temp guage will climb when it reaches around quarter warm the RPMs will Fluctuate from approx 1200-750 once its warm it will hold a steady idle, while i drive it after a bit ill notice the rough idle come into play again, it will fall from around 900 to 750 sometimes as low as 500, it will usually recover, but today it actually stalled on me in traffic for the first time while stopped at a stop sign, i was able to crank it back over and make it home. Ive also noticed an odd sound coming from my engine bay when i step on it and reach 6-7000 rpm quickly its almost like a fluttery noise sounds like my intake is making it but ive checked everything on it and it looks fine.

MODS:
Injen Cold Air Intake - The fluttering sound came shortly after installing this ive cleaned my MAF and reset my fuel trims and my shaft sensor still to no prevail.

When my car does start its pretty weak, but ive replaced the plugs with NGK laser iridium plugs aswell as the ignition coils so that cant be the issue, am i looking at compression failure? My 8 is a 2005 MT, has 109,000km on it, i do all my oil changes on time if not early, but i do not premix, i drive it like it needs to be driven, hard and fast.

I have a can of sea foam sitting ready to go but i feel if its compression loss its not worth using if ill just have to replace engine? I am under warranty

Welcome.

One thought, after the reset, did you start it and let it run until it warmed up? This will let the ECU learn the necessary trims. Mine will not idle well until it has been through this process.

I would next get the battery and alternator tested. The numbers you had indicate something really bad happening. If either are having issues, that can impact performance.

I would toss the seafoam in the gas tank. Could be fuel or injectors. Make sure they are happy before delving deeper.

Did you replace the plug wires?

If you are under warranty, get a compression check after testing the things above. If they are not done, the dealer could end up charging an arm and leg for things AutoZone will do for free.

Yes I let it warm up fully, I always let it warm up completely before moving it every time. I did not change the wires just plugs and ignition coils. How much sea foam in the tank vs litres of gas? Is it better to use the sea foam through the tank or via vacuum lines? I replaced the terminals today with some heavier duty ones cleaned both battery posts and it's getting a better initial start but still sputtering. I'll test the alternator and battery again with the new leads once I have access to my multimeter again, if the battery is faulty I will replace before I take it in, Ive also received a large amount of grounding wire 6guage from an electrician friend I'm going to ground the car in a few more spots. Any suggestions? For more info cold starts work a bit better than warm starts so that leads me to believe compression is the issue.

Update

Seafoamed the RX8, the idle is alot more stable but still a bit rough, warm starts are still pretty hesitant, I seafoamed via the vacuum ports not the tank, ALOT of smoke came out so thats a good thing, shes clean now, before i take it to the dealership should i put some in the tank aswell to clean out the injectors and what not? My CEL came on but i read up and that could be because of a fouled cat or 02 sensor so im going to run a code reader on it asap to figure out which it is, could one of those two things also be the cause of the rough idle and shitty starts? or are those more or less attributes of low compression?
