Running on One Rotor [Yes I've Searched]

Hey guys! I've got a problem!

I was recently driving my 2005 Rx8 home from work and it started struggling for power and starts running roughly! Instantly I think crap it's running on one rotor. I get home and check. Yes it's running on one rotor.

Turns out the front rotor is getting ZERO spark. (We hooked it up to this light type thing and saw zero pulse.) So here's a detailed list of everything we checked.

Coils
Plugs
Wires
Compression test (low 7s)
We get a PO301 code for a misfire.

So what do you guys think? It'll start up and run on just the back rotor so I'm stumped.

If it's low 7's then the engine is toast.

It's not though. The readings were around 7.4 7.3 and 7.1. I was running it with lower compression than that before I rebuilt my engine the first time.

The problem is that the front rotor is getting no spark to the coils, plugs, or wires.

Regardless, that doesnt explain why both front rotor coils are receiving no spark.

You said you checked coils plugs and wires, does that mean you changed them? Did you make sure that they have a good connection?, are they stock or aftermarket?

Yeah we replaced them. They're new, and it's got good connection as far as we could tell.

And I went through the checklist for the code 301 and the last thing that could be wrong would be the PCM. (According to the book anyways)

You didn't say if it's oem or after market( yes it matters) recheck all of the connections, check the battery terminals, check all related fuses/relays, find and clean the ESS and complete the 20 brake stomp.

I agree with sonic. Also, did anything happen recently that might've caused this? Like, inclimate weather, track day incident, recent modifications or work? Make sure no wires or connectors look melted or damaged.

"as far as we can tell" is all I need to know about your troubleshooting skills, and your engine is failing.
