Rx-8 Stalling: DIY mishap broke nipple off fuel pump
Hey guys,
Long time lurker here, anyways, recently my Rx-8 has been acting up. It has a history of being unable to start when hot for about the past year; However, it was was manageable I worked my schedule around that (Meaning I would never go anywhere without giving it time to cool).
About two weeks ago, my 8 started to not want to idle correctly, stalling, and inevitably dying. Couple that with my hot start problem and it's a bad time.
Naturally, I thought it was battery, plugs, coils, or cables. Well, I changed all of those, checked the battery, and gutted the cat without any benefit to the symptoms. So I planned on taking it to the dealer, but money is somewhat tight at the moment so I am kind of putting it off.
Tonight, as a hail Mary, I decided to see what the fuel pump sock looked like, but when attempting to fuel like off the plastic nipple broken without much resistance . I attached a picture below to clarify the piece.
Anyways, does anyone know if I can just order that particular part, order another fuel pump, or does anyone else have any other ideas? I can take a picture of mine is necessary.
Also does anyone have any other comments regarding my 8's symptoms.
I'm a total newb, but the eccentric shaft sensor is the only thing (besides low compression) listed in trouble starting when hot/idle issues, stalling sections.
with that plastic though, unless you are proficient in plastic welding, probably safer to try and find a new one.

Hope you find something out from someone more experienced
