RX8 5spd manual vs FD
So I am debating between the RX8 5-speed and rx7 MT, I know the gearing is almost identical, but I don't know if it's worth it to buy a used RX8 5-speed if I can't get any parts to rebuild it. I've heard it's a bit hardier but are there any other differences? Are they the same length or will I need to fix the shifter position and get a new drive shaft?

The FD3 won’t fit; shifter position is 3” longer back, also uses a pull clutch setup rather than push type like on the RX8
RX8 version is also updated to additional synchro rings and other improvements. If you already have the RX8 version, you can swap the bell housing, tail housing, and shifter housing rods onto an FD3 trans main casing and then it bolts into an RX8, but then it shifts/drives like a less refined FD3 trans.
why would purchasing a used RX8 5-spd be any different than a used FD3 5-spd? You can get parts, they just have to come from Japan. But that’s where they all come from regardless. Right now it’s cheaper to import from JP even with shipping due to the dollar-yen difference.
learn to use the search function for stuff like this, all the info is already on here.
