I have a 2009 Mazda rx8. We have had the car in the family since dealership. We have ensured regular routine maintenance such as frequent oil changes, spark plug change, coil changes, etc. The car has 117,000 miles on it. I replaced the coils yesterday and the car ran great. I was teaching my sister how to drive manual. Then I drove the car to get gas and experienced the car not liking to rev high and it make some churning noises while trying to rev high in second gear. Got gas ensured oils was good then got the car to a stop light and it died while idling. The car seems to be acting like it is not getting fuel. If anyone has ideas or suggestions on what might be wrong it would be greatly appreciated!

With those miles & years, the fuel pump failing could be a good guess.
I've been through 3 on my '04, but with premix.
Did you get the fuel ring recall addressed?
If you haven't, you might consider having the dealer drop in a new fuel pump while they're doing it.

The fuel pump does sound right based on how the car feels/acts. How would the fuel line pressure be realeased since the car will not start and I had just filled it up so it has a full fuel tank.

I don't really know.
The last time it happened I did the same thing.
I just unscrewed it and got gas everywhere.
Definitely don't do it in your garage.

hahah sweet looking forward too it! I am a little worried it might be the oil pump but if that were the case wouldnt it be obvious since the engine would have been destroyed?

I usually use Advance Auto.
A lifetime warranty is a good idea.
They usually swap stuff out no questions asked.
If you open a SpeedPerks account with them & pay for it online, you can usually get a sweet discount, like 20%

Sweet thank you! Just wanted to provide an update. I have not tried starting the car in two days. Today I disconnected the fuel line connected a hose to the nipple and had the car cranked and fuel came out. I then connected everything back and started the car up and drove it around and it performed fine. I am not too sure what the issue could be at this point.

I remember when I used to hit the Popeyes drive thru almost every Friday after work.
2 weeks in a row, after idling in line in warm weather, when leaving the parking lot it died on me.
Almost exactly the same circumstances.
Also be sure to not let your tank get below 1/4.
Hot fuel, hot pump.
