Hello all!

I'm a new member of the rotary fan club and I own a 2004 RX-8.

What a car!!!
Black/Red leather interior, sunroof and bought with just under 44k on the clock and no 'dodgy' lights on the dash. There is a slow start problem which I hope to address. The previous owner did a lot of shorter journeys resulting in rather large build up of crud on the dipstick, oil flush and change has been done and given a healthy run down the motorway. Another oil flush and change in 3k miles should resolve this.

Works taking place after Christmas
  • Compression Test
  • Uprated starter motor
  • Seafoam

Pics below for you.

Looking good!

I recommend reading the stickies in the new owners forum (particularly the new and potential owners and the congratulations you got an 8).

Welcome to the club

Thanks!!

Have been browsing already, all very interesting stuff! Will check out if my car has had all its recall work done (likely it has).

The only downside I can see, no AUX/Bluetooth on the stereo, small price to pay for such a fantastic car.

Welcome.
Good luck with the compression test.
Ideally, it should be done before buying.
There is a device called the Grom adapter that enables Bluetooth.
There's another one that's supposed to work with the navigation screen called the Navtool interface. Supposed to be plug & play.

Absolutely, wish I could have done but wasn't possible. I cant imagine it will be a problem, new starter motor should be all it needs. Really quick start up from cold, even with the slow crank. We'll see.

Compression issues are noticed particularily on HOT starts, not cold. It's all detailed in the new owners sticky.
