Rx8 ls swap question...

Hi My name is Kelly. I have an opportunity to purchase a 2005 rx8 very economically. How much hassle am I up against if its auto and I plan on a manual transmission?

The auto has the lowest power engine, the most expensive engine to repair and the swap to manual is really not simple. You would be choosing the worst option there.

If you want a manual, buy one. Also read up about these engines. If you're after a cheap RX8, you are probably buying problems. It's cheap for a reason.

Also, AT RX-8s don't just have a different engine, they also lack some of the goodies MT RX-8s have, like carbon fiber driveshaft, VFAD, an extra oil cooler, different strut tower bar, etc. The base AT RX-8 have smaller front brakes and no LSD.
