rx8 with new engine wont start hot

had the engine replaced 3k miles ago and ever since i got it swapped it has had problems starting hot. guy who did it said it will go away with break in period but now that's over as far as i know and it needs time to cool down before starting. got new oem coils and most ignition stuff is new replaced the starter with another oem one 9 months ago so not sure what it could really be and don't want to say compression because it is a new engine. any idea?

The guy who rebuilt it is wrong and just making excuses. A properly rebuilt engine should start up right away, hot or cold.

But also, it depends what was replaced during the rebuild and determining what needs to be replaced is where the experience and skill comes in. So if you had him do it on the cheap and out of spec parts were re used then a freshly rebuilt engine with low compression is to be expected.

If you want to know the health of this engine then go to the dealer and get a compression test.

+1 The symptom points to low compression. A test will confirm this.
