Man, I admire your perseverance. That's a pretty terrible place to work, but good job getting it done anyway. I took my transmission out over the weekend, but I got to do it inside my garage and without all that rust. Everything came out nicely, save for one broken exhaust bracket bolt.

Still, look, don't work under a car supported by jacks, okay? I don't mean to lecture. It's just a terrible idea. Jacks roll and they sag, and you're on uneven pavement there. I know you had two stands, but one whole side of the car was supported by jacks? Dude, you're playing with fire!

Just get a couple more stands and stay safe out there!

Yep it wasn't the greatest place to work but I had no bloody choice.. Garages are around here but your not allowed to work on cars only store them which is rather frustrating.

I fully apprecaite the concern mate

And your right id never normally do that but time was limited so i took a gamble and luckily im here still, new jacks and axle stands have been ordered so next time ill be safe and not sorry!

A car in this condition would fetch an easy 10k€ in Finland.

*frustrated sigh*

A crash helmet to me means that you plan on crashing.

Thanks mate comments like that make this worthwhile tbh

Actually not had a chance to do too much at the moment other than faff around with a good mounting point for the Gopro

Delayed update ***

Partly due to traveling for work, GF's mum sick in hospital and all sorts of other crap that has manifested itself.

Decided bravery was the best option in testing the car and took it for a blast from Twickenham to shepherds bush and then shepherds bush back to sunbury.

Have to say i missed driving these cars the sound of the rotary is just uncanny :D

Points of note pulls and drives very very well the engine at least feels strong so the utmost effort will be performed to keep that in check.

Good news -

Hot start test passed with flying colours

CLICK I PLAY

and then i realised how poo the lumia camera is...

A few niggles..

Tyres - absolutely lethal corner mild pace and wet = slide..

Steering - Feels really heavy so need to check that out trying to remember if my old RX8 was like that but memory escapes me.

Next steps are

Oil and filter change to 10w 40
Fit rig for Go Pro
Attend track day and see what falls off...

So its been quiet for a while!

Well two reasons for that, after the work on the car I admired how good an example it was and how nice it ran. I then had a few people offer me decent money for it which put my head and thoughts into gear.

So i ended up accepting an offer on the newly restored RX8 then scouring the Bay for another which i promptly found and comes with a few additions ( private plate, exhaust and sports cats, kn ram air ) and bought that. Now this is the funny part.....

Guy has pulled out of buying the car he has gone silent on me  so i now own 2 rx8's

SOoooooo

Plan is to sell the other car and with the new one arriving get to work on that, this i think may require a bit more TLC developed a misfire at high RPM's and stopped running its @ 62k so could be a terminal motor we shall see. It had new coils plugs and leads 2 months ago according to him but will check those, Suspect maybe cat too but again will see.

Fun times for me haha but if it needs a rebuild it can sit at work for a while then get sent to one of the boys here or i may put on my big boy pants and have a go myself!!
