RX8 trouble code P0420
Wassup guys I'm new to the renesis engine I have had my 8 for about 3 or 4 months now. after I bought the car 2 weeks later I had to havew it towed to the dealership to have a vent kit put in it (this is what the dealer called it) they also changed the oil and put new plugs and wires in also. Since then the car has ran great until now my CEL is on with a P0420 code since the CEL came on the car seems to be running real rich there is a strong smell of gas when you walk around the car at idle, and when I'm setting at a stop light the smell comes into the cabin. I know that 90% of the time with a 420 code the cat is bad and needs to be replaced. My question is who makes a good cat to replace the factory cat maybe even make it last longer? I'm up for suggestions as this IS my first 8 I'm willing to let other people with more experience give me advice.

Yeah, so.
To my knowledge only BHR produces a Catalytic Convertor that you could use for the RX8. I've never used one so I don't know if it's as good as the OEM.
It a ceramic catalytic.

I've tried two types and neither lasted the year. The exhaust temps are considerably higher on a rotary engine than a piston engine. This tends to ruin most catalytic convertors very quickly.
If I recall I tried a RP Supercat and a custom Davesport 100 CPI catalytic. (I think something like that)
The exhaust will stink like bloody hell without a catalytic convertor. Really very strong unburnt hydrocarbon stink.
I love it.
Could luck and let us know what you end up doing.
