Found these guys. Have good price on starter for $200 once you send them the old one. Just wondering has any one had experience with these guys? Their products seem to be mostly custom as opposed to OEM. For example, they seem to have several different clutches. Any opinions?

The products are fine but the prices are a bit high.
$20 for an exhaust gasket to go between the exhaust manifold and the TurboXS midpipe. $19 shipping. I can see $20 for a niche part but the shipping fee for something as small and light as an exhaust gasket was pretty ridiculous.
Same $19 shipping for their drilled banjo bolts. They're bolts. They're small and durable. No need to charge that much.
But if you feel like paying, you'll probably get decent products.
Like Loki said, you can find parts for cheaper.
An AC Delco reman starter from RockAuto is $220 if you keep your old starter. $52 back if you return your core. $20 less if you go with a REMY reman from the same vendor.
You can even find them on Amazon for $70 if you want to gamble a little bit.

No need to buy a starter from a specialty shop. Just buy an S2 reman from any of the typical discount retailers. Or, go to Autozone and buy a Duralast with lifetime warranty, since shipping a core costs $$. BTW, most brands of remans come from the same factory, so spending extra on a name brand is usually a waste of money.
If you must have a new OE starter, check out parts.com.

Bought a cooling fan control kit from them last year. The price seemed reasonable. Item arrived at a reasonable time and it's been working as advertised. No complaints from me.

Ive been searching for starters for a while. Amazon has a new 2kw starter for $95 with 22 positive reviews and no core return. I checked Auto Zone and their new starter is $117 with $40 core and no specs on the starter. Mine is a 05. I input an 09 as S2 has a stronger starter as i have been told. They want $182 plus core fee. It says it is 2 kw, the same as the one fromAmazon for half the price plus it is a reman. Is there a difference in power between the S1 and S2 beside 13 teeth vs 14 teeth? Is the S2 starter really worth double the price?

The S2 starter is larger and more powerful (see 2KW rating). I don't know about the cover; I certainly would not go by product pictures on the net, which are often not specific. Whether it is worth it to you is purely subjective and something only you can decide.

Ok. I have been searching for a starter extensively. This is by far the best price i have found for an S2 starter. It even beats out many S1 starters. They have been on ebay since 2002 with over 342,000 sales and a 99.8% rating. This might become a new go to place for some of you guys.

FYI....Kris emailed me the info ive been looking for regarding the differences in starters. I tried to copy it to post here but for some reason it copies every conversation we have had. So i will summarize the info he sent me for those who are unaware of the differences.
The original starter was 11 tooth between 1.4 - 1.6 kw (which is what i have)
First revision went to 13 teeth but same size, components and power.
Second revision was 13 teeth, slightly larger with 2 kw power
S2 was larger still with 14 teeth, and either 2kw or 2.2 kw of power
These are the basics of the info he sent me. Kris lives here in CO and works on my car. I met him on this forum. He even sent pics of the 3 different size starters side by side which i was unable to post. Maybe if he sees this thread, he can post the pics.

It would be nice if you can post the pics. Could be useful for those who come across.
Also, worst comes worst, pull one off a wrecked manual trans S2 and call it a day. That's probably the cheapest way.
