S2 RX8 - Clutch not fully disengaging after new clutch installed
Hello everyone! New member here!
I own a S2 2009 RX8 6sp manual and started having issues with the clutch a few months ago. So I decided to purchase some new parts and decided to have a shop install it. The shop did install it but now they’re saying that the clutch is not fully disengaging, as they cannot shift it into any gear other than 1st and neutral. They said it could be the new slave cylinder I bought, and they’re gonna try to put the old one in, but I’m wondering if it’s something to do with the parts I used or some other issue.
Here are the parts I purchased:
XClutch Stage 1 Organic Clutch Kit
ACT Prolite Flywheel with Counterweight
LuK Slave Cylinder
Koyo Throwout Bearing
Also note, I replaced the master cylinder back in October last year.
any thoughts?

Could be the failing clutch bracket issue, although I am not sure if this was 100% resolved for the S2's. Have them look at the bracket and check for any tearing of that sheet metal that bolts to the firewall. You can search on the forum for the threads pertaining to this well known issue. I recommend going to the topright of the website, click on threads, click on the advanced button, and then search by thread title.
Another issue could be that the clutch line is notoriously difficult to bleed, it's best to use stock parts for the clutch assembly, although a lightweight flywheel/counterweight shouldn't be an issue.

Were the master and slave cylinders bench bled before assembly and the whole system after assembly?
I had the same issue when I changed master and slave cylinders on my clutch and it needed thorough bleeding using a pressurized power bleeder until it finally started working normally.

So an update:
To answer these questions, yes the master cylinder and slave cylinder were both bench bled. They actually tried back bleeding it to see if that helped it and it didn’t. So after taking out the transmission, there is a bit of a height difference between the old clutch and flywheel and the new clutch and flywheel.
I talked with the people over at XClutch, the technician said that the clutch kit was designed to fit only with the OEM flywheel, so an aftermarket flywheel could cause issues. So I told the shop and they just remachined the old flywheel and used the new clutch kit and it worked.
However, the only complaint I’d say is that I have to push the clutch pedal all the way to the floor and as soon as the pedal is released the clutch disengages. I wonder if this is normal and will go away as I break in the clutch.
But I guess from learning all this, if anyone is curious:
The XCLUTCH STAGE 1 Clutch Kit and the ACT PROLITE flywheel are NOT compatible with each other.

Everytime I thought I had it, it would go right back down.
I changed the master because there was residue around the firewall, but it's possible it was the slave the whole time and I just wasn't up to fighting that thing.
I ended up paying my mechanic shop to do it.
They wouldn't bleed it without putting a new slave on it anyway.
