Safe performance OE style air filter suggestions...
I heard that K&N OE style air filter isnt really recommended since its oiled...is there any OE style air filter that is safe but actually lets in more air too?

The OEM filter is capable of flowing more air than a N/A engine can consume. There is no reason to use anything else. In fact, race teams use the OEM filter.
Think about it this way. The only time the OEM filter could possibly be a restriction, is in very high RPM situations. How much of the time is your car running above 7500RPM? Five percent of the time, unless you track it?
Incidentally, the K&N filter is not recommended, because its filtration is sub-par, and it allows sand ingestion. K&N claims a 1HP gain at high RPM. Is 1HP, in a range in which you rarely drive, worth the risk of sucking in particulate matter all the time? The 1HP claim is also suspect. Most dynos have a margin of error of around 5%. Five percent of 200HP is 10HP. How accurate is that claim?
I track my car all the time, and I use genuine Mazda filters purchased on Amazon.

Amazon now has a parts finder similar to what you find on most auto parts web sites. Just change the department listbox to 'Automotive Parts and Accessories,' and set your car. It will bring up parts that ostensibly fit your car, when you search.
To save a little money, I use Wix cabin air filters, since OEM quality is much less important there.
