Secondary air injection problem

Hi, im new here and bought my first Rx8 2 months ago. My check engine light goes on when I cold start. I'm getting P0410 Secondary air injection error code. I had a mechanic test the air pump and its working fine. but for some reason it doesn't get triggered when the engine is cold. The car sounds louder, gas smell, idles at 2k-2.5k rmp for about 15secs then drops gradually to 1k and everything goes back to normal after abt 1min.
The mechanics I consulted were dumb enough when they told me that the map sensor is disconnected. So they plugged the tube into the engine and was not able to drive at all. They said the map sensor is defective & i bought one from ebay. Can anyone please help? FYI I live on a tiny island & theres only very few rx8 here. Even the mazda dealer doesn't know anything about this car.

Welcome.

What island, it maybe that there are other members around. You never know.

Also, year, version, miles, stuff like that would help.

Does it come on at all? Has it ever worked? There is a relay for it. Some of the relays can be swapped around.

And, I live in a big city, and there are mazda dealers that do not know anything about this car.
