Selling RX8 - new engine needed
I'm new to the club but figured this is the best place to start. My engine died due to loss of compression and I want to see if it's worth trying to sell as is. I will go on to do document the car and list on classifieds next but just hitting this general forum first. Is this something that owner's / enthusiasts do with the Rx with any success?
My car was awesome until this happened. I do not customize, but a quick summary: 2004; 117k miles; fully loaded touring trim; silver with black tinted windows; good shape exterior some minor scratches; upgraded stereo with a sub/speakers/receiver; Kazera black 17" winter rims/tires.
Any experiences here in similar situation would be appreciated.

Yeah, it happens regularly. Unfortunately, most of the owners that unload a low compression engine don't tell anyone about it, and new owners that purchased without researching get stuck with the nasty bill.
If you are going to sell it honestly, you can expect somewhere between $1,500 and $3,000 for it, depending on how much else needs to be addressed.

Thanks, that range would be great, because I generally have low hopes for selling a car with an engine replacement necessary. I am posting in classifieds here soon, with full statement about this engine problem. I figure the saving grace with the RX8 is how great the rest of the car is, and it is bad junking such a great car without getting anything for the rest of it. I would be open to even selling off parts if that gets some value. Other specialists here might find more value in rebuilding the car and so I am hoping I have a shot.

Yeah there are plenty of people like me who are looking for junk/salvaged rx8's who want to have something to build on, as like a project or special use, like in my case im trying to find a cheap rx8, running or not and going to strip it down and turn it into a track car, that way i have 2 rx8's one for my DD and one specifically for track and drift so i dont ruin my other :D

OK, I just re-read that I need 10 posts and 30 days before I can even post on classifieds or anywhere else on here. I got on here for the sole purpose of trying to sell my Rx8 ... so I guess this counts as post #4. Go figure. Be ready for 6 additional pictures!
And on to Ebay until 30 days runs out but my chances are probably slim on there until then. And I continue my insurance for the car with plates parked on the street.
If anyone is interested in the full information here and looking, please let me know and I will just post here until then.

RX8 VA GUY,
You can still post in the regional classifieds. Only the national is excluded under the restriction. Unless you are shipping the car, that won't actually impact you.
