series 2 radio display delete
2009 Sport, plain Jane basic stereo.
So, if a guy was to install an Android head unit, that could be programmed to show the time, and the outside temp, not to mention all the engine specs off an OBDII interface...what's the point of even keeping the old radio display? it literally serves no purpose other than cluttering up the dash. From what I've researched, it isn't tied to the climate control system, or is it?
Any reason it can't be deleted? does anyone make a delete kit? Or have pics of how they did it? Google turned up absolutely nothing useful.

not sure I've seen many people delete it. AFAIK, no delete kit is out there, most people just run something like the Metra and yes with a Maestro RR2 you can get OBD info on compatible double dins but most leave the oem display up there.
Even if you did remove it, it would just leave a weird void there as that space isn't very usable for a larger screen.
you could fabricate something to just block it out but that might look odd.

I was thinking along the lines of doing some fancy epoxy and plastic work, flushing it up, and having the whole thing wrapped so it just disappears. Might be more effort than it's worth, removing engineered-in non-normal AV equipment is always a challenge. I remember the 89-95 Chevy / GM pickups... WOW.
