Almost sounds like an electrical short. Mabye at the alternator level. How old is your battery? How clean are the battery connections, how old is the alternator? Have you done ANY trouble shooting at all? Any mods done recently.

Also, Check your connections at the alternator, check all of the grounds as well. Could be the switch is shorting out. I sent a msg to someone who has much more knowledge to offer than I So hopefully he'll check this out and respond. Good luck.

Corroded battery connections. The sudden increase of current draw on the system was unable to be supported by the weakened connections and systems lost power.
Disconnect your negative battery cable, then your positive. Then clean the clamps and posts on both sides thoroughly. Coka Cola (the drink) works well, as does a water/baking soda mixture. Once everything is clean, reconnect positive and then negative. Ensure that you are getting a firm and solid seat of the clamps to the plugs as you tighten the clamps down. Don't just crank on the clamp bolts, wiggle the cables until you feel them 'seat' in an ideal location as you tighten.
