Simpler RX8 Radio AUX INPUT SOLUTION for IPAD
Hello,
I've read through the blog and found a few adapters that allow you to hookup an iPhone/iPad via the AUX connection, in the back of the stock radio.
Few problems with these adapters:
1. My stereo/cd changer/head unit is version 9.5, and all these adapters require 9.55 or later.
2. They are too smart for themselves. If you are able to utilize one of these adapters for the aux input, you can use steering wheel controls but there is price to pay. It locks the ipad/iphone if you are in playlist mode, it won't play other audio from other apps/functions, so pandora/iheart radio etc won't play cause it's too smart requiring app configuration.
Is there a connection I can use that's dumber and better, something that will simply play the audio from from iPad/iphone and that's it? Using the stereo like a pair of headphones? Just simply passing audio?
This way I can mount an iPad Mini Retina display where the popup navigation is in the dash, and use the iPad as the brain versus trying to pass functionality from the iPad to the stereo. Then everything can simply run on the iPad which is better and the stereo just plays the passed audio signal like a pair of headphones
