Hey Guys, I have read the charts and I understand compression results, but I want to hear some opinions. In both of these results, the third rotor chamber is a good bit lower than the other two chambers. Its technically within spec, but how concerning is this to you? Tested at warm temp. Relevant details below.
2007 Manual GT
12000 miles. Oil changes performed routinely.
All original components.
This engine has likely idled in a showroom for some portion of its previous life, though not significant.
Bonus question: Is there any evidence a rotary with good oil accruing only a couple hundred miles per year is bad for engine health? (From a sitting there un-winterized standpoint, not a "drive it hard" standpoint).
In my interpretation of these results, I have assumed the engine is broken in by 12K, and some spirited driving would not noticeably clean up any carbon produced by idling or showroom life.
I'm curious about your comment, "likely idled in a showroom".
I'm assuming you bought the car new off the
show room floor. Dealers don't really let cars idle in the showroom.
Did someone tell you this when you were buying it?
They might move the cars in and out under their own power but that's all.
What prompted you to have the test run.
I don't see any problem with rotor 2 at all. (nor the other one for that matter...........)
But then what do I know?????..
BTW: I never start my 8 if it's not going to be run for a few miles and get fully warmed up..

This is a pre-purchase comp test. I meant by that comment what you were alluding to. I wouldn't start an 8 unless I was going to drive it, but I would guess this has been started without moving or started and moving very little quite a few times.
No real opinions on the compression since the numbers can go up or down depending how you treat the car. I'd be more concerned with the condition of the body/chassis since body work is expensive. An upgraded starter, ignition coil upgrade, and premix will alleviate potential low compression issues for a long time if cared for.
