Something missing?
Hi,
I was looking at the front of my RX8 (40th anniversary edition) that I've had for almost 6 months now and noticed something's missing?
I've attached the photo below - any idea what was here originally? Looks odd to the top left of the license plate.
Thanks.

Look in the trunk, where the scissor jack is located. You will have to open the long panel that is farthest toward the rear of the car along the bottom edge of the trunk. There should be a pair of big bolts in there with rings on the non-threaded end. These can thread into that hole to use for a quick attatchment point for pull starting a car, or getting it unstuck from a snow bank, etc... They are not strong enough for heavy duty towing or really hard yanks, but they are handy under some circumstances.

Great, thanks guys. I have the big bolts - should I just screw it in?
Looks a bit rusty around the seals, so I think the front cover must've fallen off. It's really just to make it look better on the eye.

Those are actually tiedown hooks, not tow hooks. If you need to flat tow, find something solid to connect to.
Sometimes people will put fake tow hooks, ones that looks like real tow hooks but are even weaker than the tiedowns, into those holes for appearance. There are threads somewhere on this site about that kind of thing.
