Would you go to a discount surgeon? A discount psychiatrist? Its literally the heart and brains of the car. If you don't do it right, you will break something expensive.

Yeah but in my experience ported Renesis engines usually idle just fine, they may idle a little low and lopey but they idle. Three of us locally are ported by different people. I just had to bump mine up to idle smooth (personal preference really), the other two guys left theirs alone. It shouldn't die.

Well I would do a vacuum test while warm and then depending on those results, then do smoke test for vacuum leaks, and then depending on those results, start thinking about a compression test.

Have you personally checked your neutral position switch. And injector wiring?

On top of the vac test. You should check fuel trims and maf g/sec and volts.

You would think if it was low compression it would suffer hot start problems. No mater how long it runs it starts right back up . Could there still be a compression problem?

Yes hard hot starts are not always indicative of low compression. As a test we started an engine with a cracked apex seal with a brand new series 2 starter.

that will do it. just a FYI. a OBd 2 dongle and the torque app would have pointed to that almost immediately. And thank you for posting the solution. one of the biggest reasons people don't find answers is people don't post how they solved the problem.
