Stalling..New Reman Help please
Okay, wow. Literally just got a fresh Reman engine. I pretty much drive it off the lot(they dropped it off to me at my work), i start the car.. Let it warm up, and drive off. Literally 1st stop sign I stall out. Car starts instantly(when hot ), and when I try to switch it in drive, it stalls again, or if I just sit there. The RPMs get jumpy and bounce a couple hundred and stalls again. I do get a flashing CEL and my battery symbol is also on when key is in "ON" position. Help please... New plugs/wires/coils 500 miles ago.

I would think the shop would have reset the memory but I wouldn't bet on it. I've seen other such posts here with the same problem after a new reman. Could be seeing that it's new the PCM might just need some miles to learn the new engine or it needs to be reset as it's holding the data from the old engine. What year is the car? Is it a auto trans? How meany miles on the new engine? Try cleaning the MAF ESS and other simple things that have been known to cause such problems. What made the last engine die? If a Clogged CAT was the failure point of the last engine it could be your problem now. We need as much data as you can give us to realy help you with out it you and we are just stuck guessing.

Car is a 2008, automatic, 70k miles. Cleaned MAF when i had replaced the whole ignition system. And literally about 200 yards on the new engine and it starts doing this. I cant even do drive cycles, because as soon as i stop at a stop light/sign, the RPM needle will move up and down unstable, then just cut off, thats when I get the flashing CEL/battery light. And last engine was due to low compression. But it starts up in less than a second when hot also, so no problems with starting.

Do you know what caused the low compression on the last engine? 70k on a S2 seems a little sort of life but I could be wrong most of my research is on S1 as that is what I own. Was all the memory reset? The MAF could have gotten dirty when the new engine was put in any time I open the intake to the outside air I clean it. Check the batt connections and clean them really good there must be a reason your light is flashing.

To be honest i have no clue what caused failure of the engine. I just know the owner prior had never replaced the ignition system at all(69k miles). And i have not reset the memory, but im assuming they had done so, having replaced the engine less than a quarter a mile ago. Getting it towed to mazda now(free)See what they say. Appreciate the help, will update. If anyone has some input, im curious to hear thoughts on what it still could possibly be aside from dealer.

Well with the ignition sys never have been replaced I could be lead to think clogged cat due to poor ignition sys killed the last engine and will do the same to this one in short order. Be sure they take it off and check it. Don't let them tell you there is no code pulling up so it's fine because it has been known for CATs to be clogged with no CEL.

UPDATE:
okay, so they had just mixed up the fuel injector wiring! Everything runs so smooth it makes no sense. I had thought a low compression RX8 was pretty good, but dang was I wrong. So happy!
