Stereo Issues

Before I get flamed, yes, I have searched the forums extensively looking for a solution to my problem and have found no answers.

I have owned my 8 for about a year. About 6 months ago, I started to battle issues with my stereo. I was experiencing the common problem that a lot of members have experienced to where the head unit would turn on but no sound would come out of the speakers. Eventually it would come back after I drove on the highway enough or made a few silent trips that allowed for a certain capacitor (according to a poster here) to charge back up. Starting a month ago, the stereo made a few loud pops and then went out. The next time I started up the car, only the rear 6x9s would play any sound. The door speakers, tweeters, and center channel were silent or had a constant buzz that would fade in about 5 minutes of driving around.

I have tried replacing the door amps and head unit to no avail. I am completely baffled as to what the issue could possibly be. Bad grounding somewhere would be my next guess but I wanted to see if someone on here might have some insight. The issue started shortly after I got new rotors. It could be possible that I jarred something loose when bedding them in.

Thanks in advance for any help.

well, my radio's components(the actual deck part with the cd player and what not hidden behind the dash) is completely broken off from the face plate, and every now and then i have to press really hard in the center of the radio to get a good connection again.

personally, id try removing the radio to see if it has separated like mine has. i plan to eventually replace mine with an aftermarket unit or other.

I don't think that is the issue since I replaced the head unit and both were intact. Plus, the signal makes it to the door amps but does not get outputted to the speakers for some reason.

Still haven't found a resolution to my problem and it has gotten worse since then. Starting a couple days ago, the stereo would cycle and make a loud pop followed by static for a few seconds and then repeat after a couple seconds of silence. The only thing that has changed has been the weather as it is much warmer and more humid now. When this first happened, I pulled over to the side of the road to pull the 20 amp fuse so I wouldn't annoy my friend any further with the loud pops. Later, when I put the fuse back in, the system was dead quiet. Even the rear speakers are silent now. The stereo still outputs to the display but no other signs of life are present.

My only thought could be a bad ground(s)? Anyone have any theories or know where the headunit grounds to?
