Suggestions for new tires - new member
Just purchased 2006 shinka special edition copper red with 22000 miles. Need to replace 10 year old tires(only about 9000 miles on these). Any recommendations are much appreciated. Car is in Florida and will only be used when we are there during winter. thanks Jeff

jslott: are you running OEM wheels?
if so, you can do what many owners do and shop 245/40 tires instead of 225's, they'll fit with no issues.
clarification request:
winter months in FL?
OR
you escaping winter elsewhere and going to FL.
are you looking for an all season tire? summer performance ?

Original 18" rims.. Purchased it from original owner near Ft Meyers. Clean car fax, no accidents, will be getting the airbag recalls taken care of 1st week of February. Looks brand new! It's funny how life can go full circle. After I got out of college bought a 1980 RX-7 brand new (only car I've ever bought new).. 41 years later now an
rx-8 with only 22000 miles. for my fun retirement car when we are in Florida from Jan thru May..(and I paid exactly the same price for both!)

Funny, I lived in Fort Myers for about two years from 2016-2018. Had two of my three FDs down there with me....... i could exercise my dual dumped wastegates without fear, the cops literally never seemed to pull anyone over
Re: tires, i'll echo the Michelin PS4 as a great choice. Also take a look at the newish Continental Extremecontact Sport and the new Bridgestone Potenza sport. All around 300 treadwear choices
Edit: This shootout below is worth reading...... I don't think i've ever (in like 15 years of avidly reading the TR site) seen a Pirelli finish first in anything in a sports car sized tire. Shocked actually:
