Time to get involved...

Hey Guys n Girls

I have recently purchased an '05 RX8 and so far i am loving it.

It has a few little issues that i have picked so far such as a 'P0076' code being thrown and i think the ignition is on its way out. Occasionally it refuses to rev
past 7k rpm but most of the time it does... *Shrugs*... I plan on buying a BHR ignition kit in the very near future, and if that fails then i'll yank the cat out and suss that out.

Anyways, I have spent an awful lot of time on here and the '.com.au' forums just reading and reading and reading... so on.. so on... lol, and im pretty sure i have a fairly good knowledge of the RX8 does and do nots now.

Seeing as though i spend so much time here i thought it was about time i register and get involved.

Cheers
Finezy

Cheers mate... where in Oz are u from?

A few details of the issues my 8 has are as follows.

- it is an Auto with paddle shift and all the fancy gizmo's

- Starts fine when hot straight away but occasionally and randomly it will take up to 10 seconds of continuous cranking before it fires up. (majority of the time it only takes 2 - 3 seconds)

- Every now and again it refuses to rev past 7k'ish RMP

- Has had a P0076 Code since the day i got it (ssv solenoid)

I have not had a compression test due to the fact that i believe the problems would be more constant if it was on its way out. I'm leaning towards plugs 'n' coils which i plan on ordering a BHR ignition kit next week, new air cleaner and oil change happening tomorrow as well as a visual inspection of the cat.

Other than those few things i cant fault it, and even with those few issues it is still a great, fun car to drive.

Any further input would be greatly appreciated, as i'm keen to do some mods but i want the car 100% first before i spend my dollars elsewhere.

cheers in advance.

I'm in Perth, WA

hmmm I haven't personally read up in too much details on that stuff but it's probably good to start looking at the ignition side of things first.. let us know if you figure out what the problem is

how many kms did you pick it up on?

I've come to find it's very difficult to find good aftermarket parts in Australia... and shipping for some things is really quite expensive to be bought internationally :S
