Vertical Doors

Hello everyone! I've been enjoying my 2005 RX8 for a LONG time now! I love it! I've put a new re-manufactured engine in it, I've put in brand new: Spark plugs, Ignition Coils, Shocks, Struts, Radiator, Starter, Catalytic Converter, Exhaust System, Front-end under carriage, new LED lights, Fog Lights, brand new Tail Light Kits for both left and right along with LED bulbs, new Front Windshield and cool interior lights. All of this in the past 3 months. The car runs 'Amazing!!!!' Compression is superb and its just been wonderful.

Anyways, I was contemplating adding vertical doors similar to the lambo style. I think it would be kinda cool and I'm willing to take the shot. I can always go back to the stock style. Money is not really an option. With that in mind, does anyone on here know of a place that can install that type of after-market accessory to the 8 anywhere in the Pacific Northwest or semi-close to this area?

Any info would be great, and if not, well its all good! I love my car and will always love it to death. I just finished waxing and polishing it.Well, take care all.

Glad to hear you're loving your fixer-upper! Mine's an orphaned salvage title as well. After I get my color-matched CF SEIBON TS-II hood and CF wing (adjustable-angle, small and tasteful, not huge ricer-style), I'm looking at this set:

MAZDA RX8 2004-2008 Direct Bolt on Vertical Lambo doors conversion kit US made and US patented

And for the haters, this is directly from their site:

Not only are our kits easy to install but they are also easy to operate, basically open your door like normal until it stops at a predetermined position then raise your door. You also have the option of opening your door as factory unlike most Lambo Doors, Scissor Doors, Wing Doors, Butterfly Doors, Lamborghini Doors, etc, imitators.
So yeah, you can install these, and then NEVER open your doors upwards lambo-style until you're at a car show or photo-shoot if you want to stay under the radar at work or whatever. Talk about low-key! Definitely looks like a good kit.

Yeah, but having both is silly. Either commit to your terrible aesthetic choice or don't get it.

I agree. Not trying to sound hostile by any means, but I think vertical doors on a car that didn't come with them is a waste of time and money. Take that money and spend it on something that will help the car perform better, not just add weight. But to each their own.

I don't think they add much weight at all; they're only hinges. Also, once you buy some suspension, exhaust mods and a tune for an RX8, there isn't much more you can really do without just buying a turbo - and that's like $5,000 plus another $4,000 every 10-20k miles when your engine blows its apex seals out with the exhaust.

I'm personally kind of divided on them anyway. I do want something that really makes my car stand apart from all others... Maybe an aggressive wide-body kit or something instead. That's not too much more money than the vertical doors.

It's an RX-8. It does that already.

I dunno. They used to, back when they were newer. Now, in today's post-tuner world where every other low-mid-grade consumer car comes with all kinds of vents and fenders and grills and aggressive-looking trim options... I mean our 8's are still unique, but they don't stand out a lot on their own anymore.
