I drove thru a puddle at about 5-10mph lost most of the cars power and saw many misfires on the cel. I immediately pulled over shut the car off, and made the 250mile trip home in the car. However now the car likes to “spit” on acceleration no misfire indication and no loss of power. The car backfires like a ************ on the shift and in 4th gear it makes spitting or popping noises when i accelerate and i see the tach needle skipping up and down a little bit. Im thinking new plugs and coils, any suggestions on what to do? Im down bad and dont have the money to throw parts on the car at random luckily its winter and i just stored the car so i have some time to figure the issue out. Any advice is greatly appreciated thanks!

The tach jumping tells me it might be the ESS sensor. It's low and liable to get wet.

Plugs and coils goes without saying. You need to replace them preventatively.

Stop driving the car until you figure this out, could destroy the engine.
