Weird grinding noise
Hi everyone! I知 19 M, I recently bought my first RX-8 and it had been running great up until a few weeks ago. I changed my ignition coils but when I unhooked the breather tubes from the air intake, one of the connectors snapped, I fixed it to some degree but now my car makes a loud grinding noise and has little to no acceleration, and the brakes are almost impossible to push in any suggestions as to what痴 wrong? I致e attached two videos to further show the noise.
UPDATE: I took the whole air box out and was able to use some needle nose cutters to cut and push the broken piece of the elbow connector out, and put the new one in, also changed my sparks again, the connector seemed to fix the brake problem, but loud noise and hard start/idle is still there, I was advised to either get a new Maf or o2 sensor that the engine might be running lean where I drove it with the broken connector a few times, or to try cataclean to help get some of the excess air out, I used cataclean but as of this morning no improvements and I知 starting to push out white smoke, what should be my next step in trying to fix?

I'd be willing to bet that you have a vacuum leak, and a pretty gnarly one at that. Odds are, it's the vacuum line going to the brake booster, which is why it's so hard to push in. Properly fix that with a new connector, and it will probably go away.
Although it also sounds like an exhaust leak if I'm to be honest, but try above before jumping to that conclusion.

I did get the new connector but where the other one broke off I wasn稚 able to get the other part out of the crankcase, so I used some tape and got it as close as possible without pushing the broken piece in further, I do notice that every so often I can push the brakes now but there seems to be no improvement with the noise.
As for the grinding, it more sounded like it was misfiring, which is why I assumed intake leak. And the only other time I've heard something sound like that, was when my air pump pipe had blown off of the exhaust, and I was getting a real bad exhaust leak.
So I guess what I'm asking here, is where is the noise coming from specifically, and where was that connector that broke?

Crankcase? I thought the connector was broken off at the air intake. If it's at the intake, just push the old one all the way in with the air box removed, and you should just be able to grab it right out. If it's elsewhere, then it really depends on WHERE it's at.

Just to be sure, it's one of the 3 connectors pictured here, correct?
If it's coming from the rear, then it could be a multitude of things. Seized brakes, failing diff, bad wheel bearings, although just from hearing how yours idles, I'd possibly do a compression check if you're able to. Maybe it's just the audio, but I swear I'm hearing misfires or just rough idling in general.

Can you post pictures of what's broken? What are you calling the crankcase? Definitely don't push pieces into the intake. Take the intake apart if you have to
The car sounds like you might've connected the wrong ignition coils to the wrong spark plugs, or one has come loose.
You will need to fully fix any broken vacuum connectors, the car is very sensitive to extra air entering via cracks and open hoses
And yes the brakes are hard because the brake booster isn't getting vacuum.
