What compression numbers should a rebuilt car be getting?

Hi everyone,

I am considering having my 2007 RX-8 rebuilt...but what expectations should I have for a compression test once it's done? Currently has 127k miles. Presuming I take precautions to break it in like a new engine...can i hope for 50k more miles?

Is there a link to see what original OEM engines show at the beginning and what should I think is either "NORMAL" for a 15 year old car before rebuild and after?

Any thoughts would be helpful....

BTW, I am searching for a replacement as well.....funny how people in other states are not responding to my email/texts ......not sure if the cars are no longer avail...but a quick text would be great....just sharing a thought....

usually compression will still be sorta low until after break-in at least. probably longer if you get brand new housings

See post 79 for a very good explanation of rebuild expectations from Kevin at Rotary Resurrection.

thanks....

I already read this entire story....I've been spending quite a bit of time building up my engine knowledge.....rebuilt engine...that's another story...

Now I need to figure out how to make sure I get a good housing if i proceed with a rebuild on my engine....
