What do you use for race/track days?

Hello all, probably not what your thinking the post is about, but im wondering what kind of vehicle you guys are using to tow your rx8's or other fun track (and other) cars for race day? do you just drive it there, hope you dont total it and drive back home? got some cheapo truck and trailer to haul yourself there and back for events? Im kinda planning for the future here and looking to get a cheapo vehicle that i can use in the winters and as well as to haul my 8 or whatever car i decide to build for tracking/drift and whatever fun i come up with to events. Any suggestions? What do you guys use when you need something just a little bit more heavy duty? Excited to see what else you guys are driving!

P.S i couldnt find any threads related to this, so hopefully im safe :D

I keep my car streetable and drive it to and from. That means compromises on tires and brakes, but I'm not trying to save the world out there.

A lot of guys install a small hitch on their track cars with which to pull small trailers. They carry a set of wheels, brakes, tools, spare parts, etc.

Otherwise, I dunno. Truck. Trailer. All sorts of those to be seen.

Here are my toys. I used to drive my Miata to trackdays, but I've seen too many cars bashed up and couldn't drive home. Now I'm racing the RX7 and Diasio D962R (renesis engine), so bought myself a stacker. If I didn't have my truck and trailer, I'd rent a uhaul truck and open trailer, I just don't want to risk not being able to get the car home.

Drive there, drive back. Bring running gear spares you might need to limp home: spare wheel, spare front and back brake pads (if one comes unglued), spare brake calipers (easy enough to replace in field conditions), spares of all fluids: oil, coolant, brake.

If something catastrophic happens, it's sometimes cheaper to leave the car to be fixed near the track somewhere, and hitch a ride home. Worst case acquire a significant other willing to drive long distances to pick your *** up

2007 F150 FX2 with 5.4l V8 and tow package. The 2wd pickups with extended cab and medium length bed usually have the highest tow ratings. Works great with a small open trailer.

I'd like to get a dually F350 with a 7.3l diesel and like a 46' triple axle to fit two cars though.

I have a smallish open trailer....and pull it with a 4Runner. It would be nice to have a bigger truck and trailer...but this works

My dad and I both race. We started in karts over 15 years ago, finally moved to cars. I really ended up buying into the Mazda deep end. I always loved rotaries, never expected to have two rotary race cars and 4 engines to keep up. I'm planning on rebuilding my first engine this summer, I blew a Renesis last season. Fingers crossed I don't run into any problems with the 12a.

2 ways to blur the background....

depth of field...like the pic above.....its out of focus..but not smeared looking ( f2-3ish..and super high shutter speed)

and moving the camera...that will make the background smear and the car will be in focus with the right shutter speed

Will give the Kid something to try
