What is this part?
Got a 2007 RX-8 in blue, loving my first week of driving it.
I got out of the car the other day and I saw this plastic part broken in two pieces on the driver's mat, so I presume it may have fallen from somewhere inside the pedal assembly. It may or may not be related to my squeaky clutch pedal which seem like the bracket is breaking. The pic shows one half of the part, since I lost the other piece.
I need help identifying it so I can determine if its going to cause an issue!

It could be the bushing where the spring attaches to the frame. See the red circle in the attached pic for location.
Mine felt and sounded like a rusty screen door when it failed. If that's the problem, it's probably worth trying a dab of grease before shelling out for a new bracket.

It's an extended warranty, not a recall. The TSB describing it is on this site...that's where I got the picture to mark up.
The warranty reads like it's just for a cracked bracket, but mine was replaced under warranty for this.

Took it into Mazda today, I guess the bracket was broken under where the bolt is located. They asked to keep until the replacement assembly came in so that I did not risk wear out the clutch unnecessarily. I only hope the clutch didn't get any additional wear on it!
