Will 5mt transmission fit a s2 automatic for a manual convert?
Hi team,
Before anyone says to sell my car and get a manual instead. I'm doing this for the experience and this is my first car so it has sentimental value.
I've also looked at the forums and read that manual converts are just bolt ons but the usual are 6spdat to 6spdmt
I found a 6spd and a 5spd (both s1) for sale on fb market. I've read that the 5spd is better but before I get it I was wondering if it would fit my s2 auto engine. I'm not sure if both tranny are 4port or 6port.
Also for anyone that's done the convert already.
What are your experiences and anything I should keep in mind? Thank you

RX8s never came with a 5sp in north america, so keep that in mind to make sure it's really the right trans. They'll bolt on, but your automatic ECU might have some questions about the missing automatic transmission. And obviously you'll need clutch hydraulics, new master cylinder, etc.
As someone who has done the auto to manual swap on my first car (not an RX8), I'll still say it's a huge waste of time and effort. I regret the time, effort and money I put into it. Could have gotten a different fun car to play with instead. Sentimental value keeps you from trying new things.
