Won't hot start

UK Won't hot start

I have a 53 plate (2003) drives perfectly cold start no probs power good new battery new spark plugs new ignition leads and coil overs only 52000 on the clock but when been driving doesn't matter how far the car won't start from hot hate this especially when I go to get fuel it takes up to 10 mins to start again any suggestions cheers

A hard time starting hot when cold starts are fine is the primary method we have of identifying engine compression loss.

Get the engine compression tested at a Mazda dealer. See the new owner's thread, post #8 i think, for information on what you are looking for, why it needs to be a dealer performed test, etc...

Had compression test done when spark plugs and everything else was changed and it was fine

Define "fine"?

Should be compression numbers on 6 rotor faces and 1 or 2 cranking rpm. Without all information like that, compression tests are worthless.

A "fine" compression of 7.2 isn't driveable if the cranking speed is 300rpm, and is a stellar engine if the cranking speed is 200rpm.


There is really only 1 other possibly for hard hot starts, but you haven't given any symptoms that suggest it (because it causes more problems while driving than it does while cranking).
