Year Long Owner, New User, New Idle Problems
Hello all,
I've owned my 2004 Grand Touring for a year now and I've had an issue lately with a rough idle. The plugs have been changed and are good, and the coils are BHR's that are a year old. I hear a puffing sound coming from the top of the engine (
sorry for the poor video, the low hum is the AC unit at the apartment I live at). I believe it's a vacuum leak but after spraying down all the parts I can reach with carb cleaner I couldn't get the engine to respond. I've seen the vacuum line diagram and know there are some other lines under the intake manifold. Should I have a gasket ready before I take it off and and check the lines connected to the solenoids? Is there another spot I should check? Thank you!
I should also mention the sound disappears when it revs up to 1300 or more.

If you have enough of a vacuum leak, you will have a P0171 DTC, which indicates the engine is running lean. Lean running will cause the short and long term fuel trims to rise, which can be confirmed by looking at the live data on the data list.
It's difficult to tell from the video, but it sounds to me as if you have a bad bearing on one of the pullies. I would remove both drive belts and start the engine and see if the noise stops. If it does, the issue is a bearing on the water pump, alternator, tensioner, or A.C. compressor.
