Aww, at least you can show us a few quick snips of the car.
I think you can reply, but not start threads until certain requirements are met.

Don't have any and don't really intend doing it, just me... It's an 05 Evolve maroon 230hp, one thing i really don't like is the colour of the interior..
Beige seats = bloody horrible
Also didn't do my homework right and finding about 15 to a gal about the doors kinda crap. And no I'm not expecting 40 plus but i thought maybe 25ish and 30ish on a run, nope!
And high rd (although it's really this emission crap) tax (uk) £555 a yr.... do you pay tax in the States
Ok... ie can probably reply not post

If you're getting poor mileage, read the New Owners thread at the top of this forum. That may point to a few common problems that are deadly if ignored.
The new member section is exactly that: place for new people to get situated. Anything you want to post in general you can post here. Anyway, I think most people read the "New Posts" list and don't browse through the individual sections.

15 MPG Imp is a bit towards the lower end of things, so I suggest some basic tune-ups. Definitely, check the ignition system if you don't know their history.
You should get about 26 MPG Imp if you do all highway. In city, it depends on traffic. 17 MPG Imp should be doable.
And fortunately, no emission tax here.

I've read that 15ish is normal about the doors which as i said i think is crap but also now why and it's the design of the engine, that's why in this country it's high tax because of high emissions ie 284.
i don't have much history, I've got the service book with was last stamp at the stealer 7 yrs ago and not much at all after. I've noticed a misfire when pulling but revs clean new coils and plugs (d585) are about £400 is that about $550ish.
I honestly don't think I'll have it long with 15mpg and high tax but it's my fault as i said at the start for not doing homework right, it's not the car.
See how it goes..

I know there is some variance in mileage readings from the UK due to the difference in our gallon versus yours, but 15MPG can be normal depending upon your driving style. I'm am consistently getting 20MPG with a 50/50 mix of highway and city driving, on a Mazda reman engine. There are a lot of things with the car that can impact fuel economy, including compression, sensor faults, ignition or fueling challenges, but most often it is driving style if the car is working fine otherwise.
As others said, the FAQ is very useful and will discuss a lot of the common issues, including causes of poor fuel economy. If not provided when the car was purchased, a rotary-specific compression test will tell you the health of the engine and if it is worth spending money on external component concerns immediately or not.

15 UK MPG is about 12.5 US MPG, so I'd say that is below normal. A big part of fuel economy is driving style but if you are sure that isn't the cause I'd start with a basic tune up (plugs, wires, coils, air filter, clean MAF, etc). Make sure that all the vacuum lines are attached and in good condition, check tire pressures (and the possibility of a sticking brake). Is the CEL on?
Yes we have tax over here, depending on the state you either pay a lump sum when you buy the car and then a smaller fee each year or so, others you pay an annual fee often in the ball park of what you are paying.
Owning an RX8 is never a cheap prospect, but fuel economy, maintenance costs and road tax are all well documented and able to be researched prior to buying, not sure why its coming as a shock now.

You can get Revision C coils which are cheaper and still work well.
And so what will you replace this car with? If emission tax is a problem, then I think a Miata(good handling but less practicality) or a Civic Si(good practicality but not as good handling) is more in your book.

Welcome!! Will look forward to the pics. Loki hit the nail on the head in the above post. Maintain the car properly or you will find that it will quickly deteriorate can cost you a lot of money.

Thanks for the in-depth advice
I do know how to look after it though i also pre mix don't know if the last owner did it, i think he did but i do plus using 99 u/l (vpower here). I know about apex seal and d585's ect ect, yes the damage might already be there from the previous guy as i didn't do a comp test so maybe i am driving a time bomb.
Using it daily is a killer here with fuel at dam near £7 a gal think that's about $9ish... so how much are you guys paying at the pump. Don't think many of you could run them here.
I do like it and nice to drive ect ect but a greedy expensive bstard to run here. I had an idea but now doing it I'm getting my eyes opened.

We pay more than double ie £6.70
what you pay is equivalent of me paying £2.80.. it's taxed to death here. That's why these cars and big petrol/ gas engines don't sell well here plus high road tax.
they're basically trying to price you of the rd and get everybody into a Euro box.

Correct me if I am wrong, but roads in Europe are generally smaller as well in urban areas from what I have seen. Don't you guys have roads where you can only pass if you are under a certain width.
Yeah, a Challenger sure will be fun there...
Meanwhile, Smart Fortwo is pulled out of North America, save for the EV model. The ICE models have fairly similar gas mileage to a Honda Civic, with none of the practicality, and parking space here is usually not a problem outside of downtown areas of some big cities. It never was popular here like it is in Europe.
