Well, maybe not entirely reckless...
Bought my RX-8 because my old hand-me-down Protege's windshield practically exploded and I didn't want to deal with it (There was a lot of body damage around the windshield, $700 replacement easily). Found a used one with minor problems (some paint chips, needed a new battery, and had a bad neutral switch) for a great deal and purchased it within a day.
Been just kind of lurking here for a few months, learning pretty much all I can about my new purchase with how different the rotary engine is. Been slowly getting all the fluids changed out when I have free time to do so, but I really am enjoying the car.
Not sure if I'll post often as most things I need to know I can find after a minute or two of searching, but I figured I'd introduce myself.

lol, not really. My father, whom I inherited the car from didn't give it enough love and the paint bubbled up and rusted out around the windshield. During the summer there was a rock chip at the very top I hadn't noticed and I guess the heat got excited. I just walked outside to head out to work one afternoon and the whole thing had practically cracked in half. Drove it around the next couple weeks while looking for a good 8 out of necessity.
