Finally got off my lazy *** and did something today. I finished the battery relocation, tightened up everything underneath, got my exhaust back up, changed transmission fluid with some Redline, mounted my intercooler and test fitted the front bumper cover.
This thread has been a massive amount of inspiration!
My PMC adapter kit is due to arrive on Friday, cant wait to make a start with my VVTI 1JZ,
Luckily my RX8 came factory 5 speed so no need to upgrade the box.
Sorry to go way back and ask a probably, totally simple question,
Using this plate will be a fine offset and will disengage correctly?
We in NZ have a similar problem as you guys in US as none of the models came here and noone stocks the kits off the shelf.
I'd rather just like to order my clutch parts once.
Good stuff, keep it coming!
Cheers
Sorry for the late reply, Mine seems to engage and disengage fine, I'll know more about it once the car actually starts. As far as the clutch itself is concerned, I wont have to go back looking for another one when it wears out in the EU. There is a company in California (California Clutch) that rebuilds and modify's these self adjusting clutches to hold more. The guy there "Oleg" says he can even source the correct clutch in the US once he has mine in his hands since no one can cross the EU Sachs number with ours.
So I started building my motor mounts about 2 days ago. I am almost to the point of welding it all together. I just need to do a little bit more trimming and making some minor adjustment of the parts. The mounting tabs being one of the things to trim down. So here is a little update. (And no i didn't tack weld these with the bushings in.)
Finished the motor mounts, and started putting everything back together, and next week its off to Dynospeed for some fab work. Once i get the car back all i have left is wiring, wiring, wiring , fuel pump and jet kit...... And more wiring.
An aftermarket dual pass radiator from a turbo II. It had to be modified a bit, but it fit the bill as far as fitting in the car correctly with the given amount of space.
Awesome thread! Currently sourcing parts for a 2J swap myself and this has been incredibly helpful/insightful.
How do you like the new motor mounts you fabbed up? Better harmonics than the kit from LS1 RX8?
I like them allot better. There really wasn't anything technically wrong with the ones from LS1RX8 other than harmonics. If it wasn't going to be a street car i probably would not have given it a second thought.
But since it will be driven often, I'd like to keep NVH down to a minimum and my dash were it is supposed to be and not in my lap.
Awesome stuff! I love it how most of my ideas and plans keep happening in this thread.
I get to see a picture before i build it myself.
You are an inspiration.
DYNO DAY !
It did 384whp and 332 Torque at 6800. It was pushed a touched further until the ecu cut us off because it reached max injector duty. So it was backed off to about 370 wheel since it was at 88% Duty Cycle. I just ran out of injector.
