You'd actually be much better off that way IF you even need it later. Even then, if it was out of warranty, you could get it rebuilt by some of the people on the site at a much much higher quality than has been seen in some reman'd units.

Love the color choice btw.

Because Mazda has a passion about rotaries. The 8 was designed for - and around - the rotary. Look at their brochure, all the material about the drive train and layout. Geeze - just look at the rotor sculpting on the hood. Does any other car make that big a statement about its powerplant?

Definitely not a case of them designing a sports car, then asking "So what engine do we put in it?" If it were not for the Wankel, this car would never have been made.

That's why Mark came up dry when he tried searching the site for "Engine swap." Just too holistic.

I'm sure someone could put another engine into it if they really wanted to. People used to stuff big block V8s into Ford Anglias and Volkswagens. But that kind of thing would be an obsessive statement in itself, not a reasonable deal like a Miata-to-Godzilla swap or a small block Chevy in an Austin Healy.

just deal with the rotary. you obviously ignored the warning, so why pay another $1500-4000 for a swap? the vq is just as bad on gas, and i know because i've driven my cousins z and yeah...

the 8 has a warranty, so even if she drove it like a piston motor (not checking oil and water as often, not redlining at least once a day, change plugs sooner, and fill up gas more often) it will be taken care of anyways so why bother? there are many people out there buying rx8s that think it's just 'another car' but yet the motors are being replaced. why? because they're not being taken care of properly, so you don't HAVE to throw in that our motors are "ALWAYS" being replaced so often.
