Yeah im feelong like cutting every last corner to get my car pay and dragging every single RX8 between austin and San antonio. Then get to San Antonio and hooking a rope up to your front bumper and dragging your car down SAR to show you what a fast pass feels like. But we aren't supposed to get personal. Also you were discussing your F boat which was an LT1. Worse than that it was a first gen LT1. Honestly if I hired a midget to lay under my hood and had him sip and spit fuel into my intake it would make more power. The LT1 is probably in the Top 5 worst motors built with the rotors being very high up along with anything made by Jag and ford mod motors. So when you talk about full bolts ons with exhaust etc and only 30 hp...... Wrong country for that discussion. Anyway LT1=garbage=rotary. Also my car isn't an iron truck 5.3. It's an aluminum 5.7. And you've been brought up to speed on the camaro car statement. Also the 10k rpm jab was made as that seems to be the universal response when rotary guys are victim to common sense remarks about their motors. My weedwackers revs to like 20k I think. SUPA POWA then bradah
If you get that thing running you just let me know, and any Wednesday at SAR will do. Win lose or whatever, I could care less, it will be fun. We have nothing to lose, if you lose, you will be the guy with an LS swap that lost to a turbo renny and you will be youtube famous.
This thread is great.

Thanks for the spellcheck man. Smart for a rotor guy i guess. Anyway im down for a race anytime. If i see mid/low 12s on an 18" street tire and no 2 step ill be happy. Cant imagine the little rear and IRS will ever be a dead hooker.

You gonna eat that?

I have no idea of what you are talking about.

My bad. Phone is messing up and quoted the wrong guy. Mrant to quote the enlish teacher in the above post. I dont think my motor size reflects my masculinity. It reflects my intelligence. More cubes=more power. More power=SOOOPA DOOOPA FAST.

The fact you think rotaries are reliable and powerful is astounding. Let's not make this personal gentlemen. Obviously I'm in the wrong forum to preach the superiority of the V8. They have a forum full of intelligent people already Norotors.com.

The fact that one would think forcing a V8 into a chassis that was engineered specifically for a rotary engine is somehow superior to the original design of the RX8 precludes the existence of intelligence.

When did I ever make this statement? You'll notice that all the comments I have made here are about your arrogance and general lack of class. In general, I am a fan of swaps for this chassis. If anyone is making things personal its you. At some point in your swap you are going to need help from someone here that has much more knowledge of the RX8 chassis than yourself. Your general lack of respect for people around here wont help your case since you seem to "know it all"

That's funny. I actually joined this forum because I thought I needed help with the swap. I'm genuinely unimpressed with the people I've come accross so far and there has been just a continuous stream of pessimism. I maintain that rotaries are garbage and only a very strange breed think they have any superior trait over the piston motor. Think about it. Rotaries have been being built for decades and the only production car with a rotary revolves it name about Experiment. Pathetic.

the fact that you're leaving because someone doubts your swap amazes me. I guess it's because I'm more of the "I'll prove you wrong" type of guy. That's probably the main premise for me staying with the renesis...
While I don't exactly like the attitude I can appreciate the hard work that you will eventually put into your car. Hopefully you finish it. Hopefully you get it running well. When you do, don't forget to visit Hoss and 9k.

Lemans 24hr
Bathurst 12hr production race- 4years running. Outpaced Porsche 3 of those years including their $200,000 limited spec Porsche.
And multitudes of annual races all over the world.
For u to say rotaries are unreliable and not powerful is absolute ignorance.
Here's the factory figures for a stock 20b btw.
It produced 300 hp (224 kW) and 300 lb·ft (402 N·m) with twin turbochargers.
The Cosmo was speed limited to 180 km/h (111.8 mph) to suit Japanese regulations, but the 20B-REW version was capable of 255 km/h (158.4 mph) if given a free run.[5] With over 380 N·m (280 lb·ft) of torque available at just 1800 rpm, the Cosmo in an only auto trim could run the 1/4mile in 13secs.
So with these specs from a 1990-96 (1600kg) car,
Imagine with a FK off single turbo in a rx8!!
I'd love to see ur v8 TRY n keep up. Lol. Dreamer.

There's a reason rotaries have been banned from racing piston cars, ummm because rotaries eat them causing great embarrassment to the other manufacturers.

More like the flag guys got tennis elbow from yellow flags. What sad place is it to think any of those numbers are impressive? TWO turbos and only get 300 hp? 158 mph? News may not have reached you yet but a 200k mile worn out V8 will beat both of those numbers. Hell there are four cylinder that can reach that number. Lol 300 hp twin turbo. Pathetic

Puny little rotary just did a 6.19 @224 mph quarter mile......on a mostly stock engine
Try that with your V8
And aren't you glad I didn't delete your account
Play nice...you are more than welcome to have your opinion on anything...just don't expect the rest of us to have the same one

Man that motor would have to be in a fridge to make that run. Well if 6 seconds is easy then they should have no problem passing emissions....... Oh wait they have two stroke dirt bike technology. Plenty of LS motors have gone 6s. No big news. I think I was just pissed yesterday. I'm not taking anything personal. Im just looking at everything objectively.

I haven't seen a single person even attempt to insult any engine, except for you, and people aren't rising to the bait. I applaud the rest of our members for remaining civil. Feel free to keep chopping your legs out from under you though, the rest of us see pretty clearly what kind of person you are.

Since when does 2 turbos make more power than one? This isn't a v8 with dual exhaust manifolds. They're sequential.
How many street v8's can make 6+ hp per cubic inch? If you look at hp per ci your piston engine will come apart long before the rotary.

Specific output (or hp per volume) is ricer math. That doesnt say anything about the vehicle. Point being the RX8 weighs just as much as most V8 cars. It isnt light by any measure. The weight distribution makes it more agile that SOME V8 cars though. Hp per lb is more appropriate for the real world. Well actually tq per lb but thats a curse word around here.

Im sorry i was mistaken i thought hp is a calculation of torque and rpm. So it largely equates to torque since it is directly derived from torque and one means nothing without the other.
Im not trying to brag about running up to 28,000 rpm, but your itty bitty larger torque band is not worth much compared to a nice long decent torque band.
Specific output says a lot. If someone built a 6 rotary rotary that had 600hp and 600 torque with out really pushing the engine it would blow your lsx away.
Bragging about having more power just because you bought a bigger engine is a pretty drag racer thing to do.
Ooh your car can beat mine but only for a quarter mile before it needs a rebuild. Yeah thats reliable.
