You do know the consumption of oil is by design right? And above average maintenance as compared to what piston engine?
FYI, my bosses Panamera (4.8L V-8) consumes oil normally as well.

For my job I once spent several days surfing a complaint forum for cars. It was humorous to note that for virtually every single one of the 100+ cars I looked into, oil consumption was the highest complaint. And in all of them, there were dealer statements that the burn rate the owner was seeing was within acceptable ranges.
But the RX-8 likes to be hated on for the same thing, at the same rates.
It's irrational.

Let me add some more attributes for ya "...consume enormous amounts of oil, are notoriously unreliable, the power band they have is very narrow and usually very peaky, and require above average maintenance to keep alive."
Race cars? Sure that's a good application but street cars? only for the obsessive or stupid.

He is just running his mouth, just like all the Camaro, Mustang, and other Classic Muscle Car guys I used to walk in my Civic at the track who would then after, count cars so they didn't have to line up with me again the next round at the track,

Toyota states that 1 quart every 1,000 miles is within acceptable burn rates.
GM states that 1 quart every 2,000 miles is within acceptable burn rates.
Honda states that 1 quart every 1,000 miles is within acceptable burn rates.
Ford states that 1 quart every 1,000 miles is within acceptable burn rates.
BMW states that 1 quart every 1,000 miles is actually fairly good.
Porsche states that 1 quart every 1,000 miles within acceptable burn rates.

A broken in rotary consumes that much and a half million mile LS consumes that much. I would go 5k miles between oil changes in my 5.3 swapped 87 stepside and I didn't even lose a quart.

I'm aware of yall's position and I'm not trying to prove how garbage rotaries are. Almost everything we are saying is subjective anyway. This is the thread for talking **** and the rotary is my target. Pistons are Mo' Betta!

I enjoy doing swaps and in texas the market is strong enough that I can usually turn a profit when I want to move on to the next one. I just sent a deposit on a 2001 Carrera that will get the same treatment. I'll need to save for an LS3 though. In the meantime I will finish my ZR2 swap. I do these things all the time. I daily drive a 1987 Chevy Stepside with a 5.3 and stalled 80E. Gets 20 mpg and better on the freeway. Stockish motor and never given me any trouble. Won't win a car show trophy but it does its job very well. I've turned down offers for 9-10k and I only have 4k into it. I know it would have been much cheaper to put a rotor back in it but when it's finished and I decide to sell it, I'm sure it will have no problem getting a solid number in the black for me.

the rad over flow is a yokahama orange aluminum water bottel with a hole drilled in the lid slightly smaller than the over flow hose for a goo seal lol we got it from the 2013 autoshow
