This is why at a certain level scatter shields are required. It happens fairly often, I saw it happen to a Turbo Sentra SE-R back in the day, the guy wasn't hurt luckily but it destroyed the car.

Happened to my buddy's c5 z06 too. Luckily he had a kevlar shield.

With everything he threw at it, it was bound to happen. He put 9krpmrx8 type money into it.
I never knew that polishing parts presented a danger that needed kevlar shields to mitigate? :scratchhe
Polishing can be dangerous business, you can get sore muscles and all kinds of other injuries.
Kevlar bandaids ftw
I said money, not 9krpmrx8 type mods. I think it was on his 980whp meth injected novicharged c5. It might have been on the nitrous build c5 though. I wasn't there.

hey so i am running the automatic fly wheel with a custom made 15mm hubcentric 8 bolt spacer then the 1jzgte manual flywheel fastened with NEW 10.9 grade steel hex cap bolts sealed with blue loctite 243 and torqued to 65ftlbs
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...a771bd0e2e.jpg I also intend to use no more than a stage 2 clutch kit, the weakest point is the rx-8 6 speed tranny ill have to rebuild it or replace it by next summer for sure |
the auto fly wheel accommodates the 1jzgte starter the manual flywheel spacer moves the manual flywheel closer onto the spline shaft so it's the only way to make them work together
